How Much Does a Website Cost in Belgium in 2026?

Real price ranges by project type, what actually moves the bill, and the three-year total cost — monthly subscriptions included.

All amounts in this article are exclusive of VAT.

In Belgium, a professional showcase website costs between €900 and €3,000, an online store between €3,000 and €6,000, and a web or mobile application starts around €6,000. Below €500 you are not buying a custom website: you are paying for a bought theme to be installed, which is a different job — and a different budget.

Those ranges don't tell you much until you know what moves them. That's what this article is for: understanding what you're paying for, so you can tell whether a quote is expensive or simply complete.

Why nearly half of agencies don't publish their prices

Let's start there, because it's what makes the research so tedious. We surveyed the public pricing pages of 50 Walloon web agencies on 9 September 2026: 23 of them, or 46%, publish no price at all. So it isn't a majority — transparency wins, but only just. It is still close to one agency in two, and it only takes those to be the ones you contact for comparison to become impossible. There are three reasons for that silence, and only one of them is legitimate.

The legitimate one: a website isn't a standard product. Five pages for a plumber and five pages for a medical practice with online booking are not the same amount of work.

The other two are weaker. "On request" lets the price be adjusted to what the client appears able to pay. And it prevents comparison, which is exactly what you're trying to do.

A provider who publishes their rates takes a commercial risk. They also save you a week.

What actually moves the bill

Contrary to intuition, it's almost never the number of pages.

Content: who writes it, who shoots it

This is the first hidden cost. A five-page site where you supply the copy and the photos, versus one where the provider has to produce everything, are two projects with different prices — the gap can reach a third of the quote.

If your budget is tight, this is the first lever: write your own copy, even imperfectly. A professional will rework it far faster than they would invent it.

Features that touch money or personal data

A contact page costs a few hours. Online booking with availability management, online payment, a customer portal, or a connection to your invoicing software cost several days — and they put you on the hook for sensitive data.

This is where quotes diverge the most, and where you should read most carefully.

Custom design or a bought theme

A €60 theme, customised, is two or three days of work. A design built for your business is two or three weeks. Both are defensible — they simply don't answer the same need or the same budget.

The tipping point is simple: if you're alone in your local market, a clean theme is enough. If all your competitors have a website, looking like them no longer sets you apart.

Speed and SEO, done or skipped

This is the line most often missing from cheap quotes — and the most expensive one to fix later.

A site built on a generic theme carries code it never uses. It renders in five or six seconds on a phone over 4G, when a visitor grants it about three. Google measures that slowness and factors it into ranking.

Rebuilding performance after the fact usually costs more than doing it from the start.

The ranges, project by project

These are the rates we charge, published on our pricing page. They give you a concrete reference point; other providers will sit above or below, and what matters is understanding what each level covers.

Project typeFromWhat it covers
Landing page€890A single page built to convert
Essential showcase site€1,290Up to 5 pages, baseline SEO
Signature showcase site€2,400Custom design, copy written for you
Online store€3,400Catalogue, payment, shipping
Web application€5,900Customer portal, dashboard, accounts
Mobile application€6,900A first version ready for the stores

Below €500, be careful — not because it's impossible, but because the real work exceeds that amount. If the price doesn't cover it, something is missing: the content, the performance, the SEO, or the support after launch.

The calculation nobody runs: three-year cost

This is where comparisons flip, and it's the most useful part of this article.

Plenty of offers advertise a website "from €29/month, no setup fee". That's appealing when cash is tight. Let's run the numbers over three years, the average lifespan of a site before a redesign.

Monthly subscriptionSite you own
Upfront€0€1,290
Monthly fee€29/month€0
Hostingincluded€50 to €100/year
Domain nameincluded€10 to €20/year
Three-year total€1,044€1,470 to €1,650
You own the sitenoyes
You can switch providersnoyes

Hosting and the domain name are given as ranges because that's what they are: the price of a .be depends on the name you choose and on the registrar, and hosting depends on your traffic and on what's bundled with it. Be wary of anyone quoting you an exact figure without knowing your project.

Over three years, then, the gap is around five hundred euros. That's not much. But two rows in that table can't be priced.

You don't own the site. Stop paying and it disappears. Three years of accumulated SEO disappear with it.

You can't leave. The site is built inside a closed system; no other provider can take it over. You're not paying for a website, you're renting the right to have one.

A subscription makes sense if you're testing a business idea and want to limit the upfront spend. It makes far less sense if you plan to still exist in five years.

How to read a quote without getting caught

Four questions to ask any provider. The answers will tell you more than the total.

Do I own the code you deliver? If yes, ask in what form. If no, you're renting.

What is not included? A good answer is specific. "Everything is included" is rarely true — hosting, domain name, content and photography are the most common omissions.

What happens after launch? Thirty days of bug-fixing cover is a reasonable minimum. Beyond that, maintenance is billed, and that's normal — but it has to be in writing.

How long, and starting when? A deadline that starts "on receipt of content" isn't a deadline until you have the content.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a website cost for a freelancer in Belgium?

For a one-person business, budget between €900 and €2,500 for a professional showcase site, depending on whether you supply the copy and the photos. Below €500 you are generally paying for a theme to be installed, not for a site designed around your business.

Is a €29/month website really cheaper?

Over three years the amounts are comparable: roughly €1,044 on a subscription against about €1,500 for a site you own, hosting and domain name included. The difference isn't financial but proprietary — with a subscription you don't own the site and you can't change provider without rebuilding everything.

Does the price include hosting and a domain name?

Rarely, and it's the most common source of misunderstanding. Budget €10 to €20 a year for a .be domain name depending on the name and the registrar, and €50 to €100 a year for hosting suited to a professional site. These amounts vary: always ask whether they appear on the quote.

How long does it take to build a website?

A landing page ships in one to two weeks, a showcase site in two to four weeks, an online store in four to eight weeks. Those timelines start from the moment the content is available — which is what most often stretches a project.

Do I need a subscription to keep the site online?

That depends entirely on the provider. With us, no: the code belongs to you and you only carry hosting and the domain name. With a provider working on a subscription model, stopping payment means the site disappears. Ask before you sign, not after.

In short

The price of a website depends far less on the number of pages than on three things: who produces the content, which features touch money or personal data, and whether performance and SEO are genuinely done.

And before comparing two quotes, compare what's in them. A quote twice as expensive that includes the content, the performance and ownership of the code isn't twice as expensive — it simply isn't selling the same thing.
